Diecast Jam this year drew in a large crowd to the MacColl YMCA on July 22nd and 23rd. Doors opened at 9AM bustling with energy from the 400+ attendees. Many attendees were local, lots were out-of-state and we’ve even had some international attendees who visited Rhode Island just for this event! It was quite the turn out!
We had special guests Mac Ragan and Bob Parker greeting the attendees. They signed autographs to give to guests, and shared their passion, wisdom, and experience about diecast. They also helped with the charity raffles and auctions which drew a lot of attention and made for an interesting bidding war for the auctions!
60 vendors had their tables filled with a variety of diecast for both casual and experienced collectors: Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, Jada, ERTL, and many more, with 1:64 scale up to 1:18 scale, from premiums to mainlines, new and old. There was something for everyone!
The Diecast Jam Staff held raffles, auctions, and straw draws, where proceeds are donated to local charities A Wish Come True and Operation Stand Down.
Last but not least, the LJLRC held their monthly race with their Derby Magic 4 lane and 2 lane tracks. The races featured a charity race where all racers raced with the same car: a 1994 Johnny Lightning Movin’ Van. The feature race this month was 60’s and 70’s American Muscle Cars (Johnny Lightning only). We had participants young and old race their fastest on the tracks! Check out July’s results page to see who won!
The LJLRC would like to thank all the vendors and attendees who made this possible, Mac Ragan and Bob Parker for coming out to meet fellow diecast enthusiasts, the Diecast Jam staff who helped set up and clean out the facility, and last but not least the Race Committee members for running a smooth race day.
